In his Friday evening lecture, Richard will discuss Jung's teachings in light of the inner Christianity tradition, focusing on key symbols and ideas of both orthodox and Gnostic Christianity to suggest how these relate to Jung's thought. He will focus on the relationship between gnosis, or illumination, and Jung's concept of individuation.

In his Saturday workshop, Richard will give a brief, accessible introduction to the central teachings of inner Christianity. He will explore the history of this tradition, and some of its key teachings, such as: the inner Christ, the nature of gnosis, and agape, or conscious love. He will also lead some brief guided meditations.

Richard Smoley has over 30 years experience studying and practicing Western esoteric traditions. His latest book is Conscious Love: Insights from Mystical Christianity. Other books include Inner Christianity: A Guide to the Esoteric Tradition, and Hidden Wisdom: A Guide to the Western Inner Traditions. He is the former editor of Gnosis magazine and is currently editor of Quest Books and Quest magazine.
