The Kansas City Friends of Jung Board of Directors:

Ken Buch, President

Ken Buch, a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, is an avid student of the works of C.G. Jung. Raised as a Christian fundamentalist who “left the flock” in high school, he stumbled upon Jung decades later — at mid-life — as he began re-evaluating his childhood experiences and struggled to define himself outside his career. He is president of KC Friends of Jung as well as its Webmaster, and he teaches introductory classes on Jung's psychology and process of individuation.

Donna Ziegenhorn, Vice-President

Donna Woodard Ziegenhorn met the Friends of Jung when she was invited to convene a writing group following an FOJ sponsored lecture by Thomas Moore who encouraged individuals to explore the riches of their own lives. Donna is a playwright. She bases her work on bringing the lived experience to dramatic form. Her work includes "The Hindu and the Cowboy," a play based on interviews with individuals of numerous cultural and faith traditions from across metropolitan Kansas City. Her career began in marketing and public relations with Missouri Repertory Theatre and included a several year stint with Home Box Office where she was regional vice-president.

Diana Midyett, Secretary

Diana was exposed to Jungian Psychology as an analysand of a local Jungian analyst. She credits this experience for introducing her to Jungian therapy's benefits and the Friends of Jung. Blessed with a belief in the mystical and the divine, Diana finds FOJ ideal for her continuing journey as a self proclaimed student of the mystery. On a practical level, she brings her expertise as Meeting Planner and Conventions Coordinator to FOJ, helping to provide quality programs for which the organization is known.

Paul Whittemore, Treasurer

Paul Whittemore, a member of the Board of the Kansas City Friends of Jung, has studied alternative spiritual traditions and the ancient sources of wisdom for over forty years. These interests have included alchemy, Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Vedanta, theosophy, Jung and Buddhism, among others.

Twila Jukes

James Mayfield Smith

James Mayfield Smith is an applied mythologist. He applies the principles of depth mythology to sales & marketing, strategic problem solving, product ideation, and individual personal transformation. James mines story, imagery, metaphor and concepts derived from the study of how stories affect the human psycho/emotional/behavioral systems. By examining how humans have told stories about ourselves for thousands of years and the impact of these stories, he gains valuable insight for harnessing the power of story to transform our lives, imagine new possibilities, and market and sell existing ones. The work of Carl Jung has heavily influenced his understanding of processes related to transformation, and his involvement with the Friends of Jung continues to fuel his own personal and professional work.
